The last time I checked, it was not illegal to smoke a cigarette in one ‘s own personal vehicle. Yet car manufacturers these days generally exclude built-in ashtrays, perhaps self-righteously believing they are doing their bit to make people stop smoking. There are enough cup holders distributed about the car to hold a six-pack of beer but God forbid anyone smoke! Sadly, people continue to smoke recklessly in their cars, only now they are forced to pitch burning butts out the window or rig up a messy alternative to an ashtray–an almost-empty beer can, for example. I’m just messing with you about the beer– don’t drink and drive, kids!– but as a defiant smoker I can tell you, it’s been a hassle. Until lately I’ve been using a small roundish glass ashtray which more or less fits into the top of the convenient cup holder, but it’s sloppy–butts fall out and ash gets everywhere. That’s why I love this thing. The two little funnel-things for extinguishing my cigarettes are fantastic–no more smoldering butts or potential fires. I had an ashtray fire once while driving–not fun. The container is deep so I don’t have to dump it every day, it fits securely in the cup holder, and the rhinestone-studded lid is a nice touch. What would make it perfect would be a little light that pops on when the lid is opened–I do a lot of driving in the dark. The closing of the lid decreases the old cigarette smell a little, but let’s face it, if you smoke, there’s gonna be an odor. No getting around that. The best thing about the lid is that I can transfer the thing from my car to my husband’s ashtray-free truck without making a mess or having to run inside and dump it first. My husband dips so he’s got his gross water bottle spittoon in the truck but he won’t let me drop my butts in there–why? It’s spit, foul brown SPIT, how can a cigarette butt possibly make it any more repulsive?–and I really hate pitching butts out the window. So glad it finally occurred to me to check Amazon for automotive ashtrays.

This is really pretty. Looks just like the picture. It’s easy to wash also. I had to let it air dry after partly-drying it with a paper towel. The only thing I wish it had was a light because I can’t see it when I’m driving in the dark areas. I can usually tell where the opening is though…or feel where it is. It’s the prettiest ash tray for a car I’ve ever seen and the lip stays up well too. There are 2 metal circles on each side of the part that holds your cigarette so you have everything you need while you’re driving. A place to hold it for you when you can’t….and 2 places to put the cigarette out quickly. Then you can s*** the lid & it goes out just like that.

An ashtray that doesn’t look like one and adds some bling to your ride. To date, I have had no issues with this. The flip up lid fits securely, it’s easy to empty and no associated mess. Add some unscented kitty litter, it will help with odors and is a substantial material to keep butts from smoldering.1 star deducted due to some scuff marks on the side, even though it arrived encased in plastic. A manufacturing defect or previous return?

this fits really well in my cup holders, but make sure there’s nothing under it because it rattles really bad.

So cute for my car. Doesn’t have a built in light

Love it.. only thing is that the top pieces disconnects and there’s a large open hole that is capable of spilling ash and butts everywhere. No stones have feel out of mines so that’s a plus.
