I grabbed this for my daughter to use in the backseat while we wait at the school bus stop. And it works perfectly for that. This never gets hot, rather it warms up to feel like you have just taken it out of the dryer. It’s a very comfy temperature. Thanks to this blanket I can have her put this on and not have to waste gas running the engine to use the heat. Even not plugged in it’s a nice warm blanket thanks to the double layer fleece.Pros: The size, two people in the backseat can share this easily. Well, two kids anyway. The blanket never gets too hot.The cord is a very good length. I have a SUV and I can plug it in up front with me for more control, yet there is plenty of play left in it.It’s a nice soft warm fleece.I haven’t run into the auto-shutoff being used, but it is nice to have it and you choose 30 or 45 minutes. The cons: Well the con, because I have only found one and that’s what keeps this at 4 for me not 5. It takes too long to warm up, about 10 minutes. That’s not an unreasonable amount of time, but since we end up waiting about 10 minutes for the bus every morning it works out to be bad timing. But with all the polar air this winter I have needed to warm the car up before leaving so it’s warmed up by the time she gets in the car.All in all this is a handy thing to have, and I feel better knowing it’s in my car in case of emergencies. As long as you have power from the battery you have some extra warmth. But even if you don’t, this would keep you from freezing with the double fleece. If you’re reading this you’re already trying to figure out if this is something worth getting for yourself. I recommend it, with gas prices rising anything that can help you use less gas is going to be worth it in the long run.

Bought blanket for winter camping in the southwest; it works like a heated blanket should. You’re not going to want a blanket that’s hot to the touch, unless you’re into self-immolation. Heated blankets are to warm you just beyond what a non electric blanket would, essentially giving your natural body heat a jump-start to cozy. The timer is for your own safety, which is both necessary and irritating; it’s there for your own good, but if you use it for winter camping (old tent trailer fitted with 12v plugins, run off of solar and marine battery) like we do, you may find yourself waking up to push the reset button. We use it UNDER the sleeping bags (heat rising and all) and find it works great in 30˚(+/-) temps. It worked well enough that our Great Dane mix took over the bed, so now we’re getting one for him. This will fit Under two normal sized people (but not two adults plus a large dog). If you use it OVER yourself, it will realistically only cover one average sized person.Pros:*Heats up well and holds temp longer when placed Under your sleeping bag.*Warms up nicely when draped across you in a car.*12v for camping / car*Price can’t be beat for what you’re getting.*Offers two timer settings, like most heated blankets for travel.*Does not make a noticeable draw on the battery being reset 2 or 3 times on a very cold nightCon:* It does have a timer, which is required, and for your own safety.*12v doesn’t work in a standard house outlet. (Adaptors are available; recommend just buying a standard plug EB for the home)*The plain color costs more than the plaid.. if that sort of thing bothers you.*Some people seem to have issues with the plug staying secure in their outlet; try a different brand outlet. On that note, if it’s only getting power intermittently whilst well seated, exchange it for a new blanket; everything has a life span, and sometimes things are faulty. (We haven’t had that experience with this blanket, but if we did I wouldn’t hesitate to replace/ exchange it.)*Not the biggest electric blanket on the market, but comparable to other travel EBs.Conclusion: We just bought another for the uses noted above. Temperatures have dipped into the high 20˚ overnight and we’ve been fine, only needing to hit the reset timer 1 or 2 times more than in the mid 30˚ range. I will (maybe) update rating once I know the full lifespan.

5 stars all around, except for temp control. There isn’t one. It just gets comfortably warm.Bought a regular electric blanket for my camping/hunting trip. It didn’t work with my inverter/generator or power inverters. Electronics can be picky like that. So I bought this 12volt one last minute, and used it straight off my deep cycle camping battery. You can use it off the car cig lighter, but most of those either shut off, or risk killing the car battery. It worked great. Gets plenty warm. I only had to reset the timer twice. I did a test, put it outside, put a thermometer in it, allow the temp to settle, then turned it on. It quickly got pretty hot. To be clear, it got this hot because it was folded in it’s package. It’s nowhere near this hot during use. Just comfortably warm, especially in a sleeping bag.

When I can get it to work right, (my cig lighter’s fault), this blanket gets a little warm. It does not get hot and there is no temp setting. I knew all this going in.It’s the kind of blanket you get for your female companion who’s always cold in the car for long trips. It’ll keep a gentle warmth going for her so you can keep the temp at a reasonable coolness to stay alert while driving.I got it for my kids on cold mornings – they look just like the kids in the photo – thinking this would be a cheap and easy solution to installing seat heaters.I thought this would be perfect. They like it but it’s not a replacement for a seat heater. This gets almost as warm as a seat heater on low.Since every other review of every electric blanket seems to have major issues, I figured I would add that this seems totally safe. So, you’re welcome, whiners looking for someone to blame.. they made it so safe it barely heats up.

Use this for the baby when traveling in the winter.
