Most cars today have built in compasses. My mother is 82 and doesn’t know how to work her dash compass. She asked for one of these for Christmas. It mounted nicely on the dash where she can see it at all times. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it came with the box smashed and battered. After seeing the outside of the box, I was convinced that it would be broken inside but it wasn’t fortunately!

I believe in giving products and company 3 chances. The 1st. compass came broken leaking and Missing all parts. The 2nd. came smashed and missing all parts the 3rd I will update When it arrives Wednesday or thursday. If it is broken in any way not working and or missing all parts. 3 Strikes and they are out. I reached out to the company and said they need to inspect there products before packing and shipping. We as customers should be given at the very lease A LITTLE RESPECT. I will be doing a lot more researching on compasses and the company that sell them before I purchase again. because I do not want to get lost out there on the water. this is my 1st boat and compass. UPDATE Received the 3rd replacement compass today. I calibrated it as per instructions with the help from my sons Boy Scout compass. Headed north turned screw Half turn then turned East and again Half of a turn. did this for about 15 minutes and got it within 3 degrees of calibration. I believe this is good for A $13.00 compass. It is working well. Just need it to last for a few more months and I will feel I got my moneys worth. And will purchase a compass with a different body other than plastic. My patience and giving the company A chance worked for me. changed review from 1 star to 4 stars It works as described.

This compass is junk. Not calibrated and unable to point to magnetic North. In fact, it was set up totally opposite and pointed almost exactly South. Had to buy another compass locally.

Didn’t work as a car compass due to the amount of surrounding metal, I guess. Works fine outside of the car.

Only the compass came in the shipped box. There were no instructions, mounting pad or screws as advertised. The compass seems to work well. I have not mounted it yet, needing to find something with which to do so.

This product is super cheap, and doesn’t even read correctly. We mounted it on the dash of our UTV, and it just spins & spins, never reads correctly. Very cheap!
