Three important notes for when you transfer your key:- The screw provided in the kit is of a different threading than the factory screw. You will have better luck if you reuse the original screw from your old fob.- If you follow above then you may need to file down the screw hole on the plastic sleeve that goes over the key before you install it. This is to provide extra room for the screw. It didn’t align properly on mine so I had to widen this hole.- MOST IMPORTANT!! The plastic sleeve that your key is inserted into has two small cutouts on one side. In order for it to properly fit, look at the housing half (the one without the holes) and notice that at the opening there are small cutouts that match up. You will have to carefully slide the sleeve housing with key into this channel before snapping the halves together.I didn’t notice this on my first attempt, and ruined one of the plastic shells as a result. Fortunately they provided two in this pack, so I was able to use the other one.p.s. Make sure you transfer the rfid chip from your old fob. It was difficult to remove the old one as it was rubber cemented in, I recommend a sharp razor and careful cuts through the plastic housing. I used super glue to place it in the proper area on the new fobOverall I’m very happy with this replacement, and I hope this review helps someone!

Wouldn’t start car after swap of button unit into new shell (would open doors, trunk, and even crank car), 2005 Accord has a transponder chip. Had to cut out one corner of the original shell to get the transponder and the magnet “tower” under it, then clip that plastic down to a size that can be crammed into the new shell. No glue needed as it’s such a tight fit. But next time it will be much easier. Still better than paying Honda dealership $200, original shell should have been thicker/better plastic.

Ok, so just did the swap and I broke one of the two. I had read the top review when I ordered it a few days ago. Today before installing it, I watched a YouTube video. The YouTube video has no warnings and the Amazon review has one, but I didn’t quite get it.*****IMPORTANT*******The key ( no pun intended) is that once you slide the new mini sleeve over the key you need to SLIDE the combined unit into the fob base. Do NOT place it in and push down as it will break. There are cutouts on the ENDS of the new sleeve that SLIDE and align into the key fob base. Also, make sure the shape is aligned narrow end to narrow end and wider end to wider end.If you don’t do this the fob doesn’t snap together well on one side, and there will be a slight gap. That gap means it’s not installed correctly and will fail somewhat quickly. The YouTube video titled “ Honda Key replacement. Renew Key Fob. Easy Fast Cheap” does it incorrectly and you don’t notice that he actually cuts away from the shot when trying to close the fob. He didn’t do the SLIDE the combo into the fob. If you don’t SLIDE the combo in it will break. If installed correctly the fob should snap closed relatively easily and not require being forced. The seam will then be even all the way around the key fob.Reminder- make sure to transfer the rfid chip from the old fob to the new fob.Still glad I bought it and was able to fix a broken key/fob.

When my original 2000 Honda Accord key fob started to crack in multiple places, I thought to myself I would just go to the dealer and buy a new key. So I expected it to be relatively expensive to replace the key since I went to the dealer, but I had no idea it was such a chore and an ordeal. Now keep in mind that the keys’ electronics still worked, it was just the plastic housing that was cracking around it. The dealer wanted over $200 to replace the entire key, which means the electronics and everything. That’s a huge ordeal. So, if it’s just to replace the plastic case, this is, in my opinion, is the complete solution for you. Of course, the dealer did not volunteer the fact that you can get a plastic case online, they were very happy to take my $100 for the key and another $100 to program it. So, a note about the assembly: everything went as planned except when it was time to remove the metal key itself, you literally have to break it out of its original plastic mold that it comes in. You need to break the metal part from the mold without putting so much pressure on the electronics that you might break that aspect of it. As long as you’re careful taking that out of its original mold, the rest goes together nicely. I would totally recommend this if it’s just the plastic that’s breaking and the rest of the electronics still works. No need to go to the dealer under these circumstances, in my opinion.

My 2012 Honda Pilot key fobs were tearing apart where the cut key is held by a set screw to the plastic fob . These fit the bill perfectly ! The fobs are now like new , but there is no Honda logo on the replacement plastic fob . To me , that’s a non issue , doesn’t matter at all . Other than that , they look original . Seems to be a great value for the money.

Truthfully, I was a little worried based on some of the reviews, but this worked with NO problem and makes the key like new. The chip must be on the circuit board with the buttons, and there were no issues. It was a little work to get the key assembled, but I would say it might even be better than new. I’m very happy with it.

Just what I needed. If you’re slow like me make sure you stick the key through the smaller piece so the wholes can line up. I thought I was gonna have to return it until I realized I was doing it wrong. I don’t need the buttons to work.. so I don’t know about programming it but it does what I needed it to do (turn my car on). Happy customer.

( Housing is only part I used)Seems pretty well made. Had to “glue” the chip into the new housing(thanks to you tube) but the key works all features. Packed well and shipped quickly, fair price and will use seller again as needed.
