I purchased 3 different portable refrigerators in the past, and all 3 of them stopped working after a period of time.Luckily, one of them was still under warranty, and I sent it back to be repaired, under warranty. Now, this is my first thermo-electric cooler.I did not know what to expect. After having this unit for about 2 weeks, here are my initial findings:Pros:1) This thermo-electric cooler was MUCH less expensive than the portable refrigerators.2) I was able to find a thermo-electric cooler in the exact size and shape that I wanted.3) Considering the ambient temperature inside of my house, this cooler has my drinks really, really cold. Every bit as cold as the portable refrigerators, at a fraction of the price.Cons:1) The fan on this thermo-electric cooler is noisy. I could not hear any noise coming from my portable refrigerators. But, this thermo-electric cooler makes a good bit of noise.2) Unlike portable refrigerators, it takes this thermo-electric cooler a long time to cool anything you put in it, at room temperature. By comparison, my portable refrigerators would cool anything I put in them, in an hour or two. When I loaded this thermo-electric cooler with 24 room temperature drinks, it took almost 24 hours before it got them really cold. In the end, the drinks that are in there are really cold, just the way I like them. But, it took them a long time to get to that desired temperature.3) There is no thermostat on this particular cooler, so no way to actually control the temperature. In the brochure, it did say that it could get down to freezing, depending on the ambient temperature of the area where the cooler is being kept. If outside, in really hot weather, the drinks will probably not be as cold as I like them. If in my air-conditioned truck, or in my air-conditioned house, the drinks should be very cold, just the way I like them.4) The cooler did not come with a 110v to 12v converter. I had to purchase one of those separately, in order to test the cooler inside my home.Summary:I do not know how long it will take to cool down 2 or 3 drinks, when adding them to an already cold unit.I would suggest you add replacements for anything you take out, as soon as you can, so that you always have a cold supply of whatever you place inside of the cooler. (The remaining cold items should help with cooling down any new items added.)I have not had a chance to actually take it on the road yet, but considering the difference in price point between portable refrigerators and thermo-electric coolers, I am happy with this unit so far.I am especially happy about the price point, as compared to portable refrigerators.5) Latest update. The unit is still cooling very well. The issue I am now having is that there is on thermostat on this unit. I mentioned this as an earlier note, but in this new note, I mention it again, because of the ambient temperature in the house, the coils are freezing over, which in turn stops it from cooling. I must assume that as long as the ambient temperature is high enough, it would not freeze over. But, running it in an air conditioned space, it appears to freeze over about once every 24 hours. It would be great, if there was a thermostat that could be set so that the temperature never went below freezing, or that when ice buildup occurred, it would automatically shut itself off, until the ice was defrosted.

I bought this COOLER thinking it would cool from room temp to 32 degrees.Nope.BUT… once I put a couple small ice pack gels in it, it kept my stuff cold (38 degrees) for several days non-stop in my home (74 degrees). One WARNING: The cigarette plug adapter gets very very hot! So if you plan on using this continuously (more than 6 hours a day), be sure to put the cig plug INSIDE the cooler somehow. I use a 10A AC/DC Adapter power supply with cig outlet to do this. Make sure your AC/DC power adapter power supply is greater than 5 amps. This cooler will burn up anything smaller!

This is great. There is no noise to this at all; I put in the front, adjust the passenger seat and it fits perfectly on the floor. I wanted to get to a cold drink quickly and better access to the lighter where it connects to. Just follow the instructions on setting it up and you’re good to go. I drove 5 hours and it kept my food cold so when I stopped after 2.5 hours it was cold. Just like it says, no additional ice packs are needed either.

My wife and I went on a 2+ week road trip through several southwest USA national parks and monuments (Zion, Grand Escalante, National Reef, Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain, and Dinosaur) and used this cooler to keep our food cool. It’s really not good at getting stuff cold in the first place, but it did a great job of keeping our refrigerator-cold stuff cool and unspoiled during the trip. When we were out driving, it turned out to be the perfect size for a few sandwiches, some 12-oz cans of almost ice-cold soda, a quart of milk, some other snacks and a Blue Ice brick we threw in after freezing it overnight to get warm stuff we put in cold. Paired with the ALITOVE AC to DC Converter 100V ~ 240V to 12V 10A 120W Power Supply (also here on Amazon), we took this cooler into hotel rooms to keep the cooler running while our car was parked for the night. There are three downsides to this little cooler. The first one I already mentioned: It may be good at keeping things cool but, be forewarned, it’s not very good at getting stuff cool or cold. So don’t throw warm sodas in and expect them to come out frosty cold. The second problem we ran into is the cooling element condenses water out of the air, and the water drips down on the contents of the cooler below the cooling element and fan. So stuff can get soggy if you don’t wrap it up. It’s not a lot, perhaps a quarter cup over two days, but dumping a tablespoon of water into a sandwich does not make for a happy camper. We quickly learned food under the cooling unit and fan had to be tightly wrapped. Finally, there is no drain in the bottom of the cooler. That means you have to take everything out and tip the cooler upside down to drain the condensed water out every day or two. (On the other hand, we didn’t wind up with wet spots on our SUV’s seats where we parked the cooler while we drove.
