First, this is really a great product. Just at first you will find it’s HARD to open. That’s because there are no instructions as to how to work the lock. So after breaking two thumb nails and a few choice words I finally figured out the trick. In the center there is a little bar that turns. You have to turn that so you can squeeze the little loop off the hook. Then you turn it back to the original position to lock it. Easy peasy! Each lock measures about 1 1/2″ long.

They were the right size for the purpose, which was to attach a key without using one of those pesky metal key rings that have to be pried up. You know, the kind where the ring is a compressed loop of metal and you’re supposed to slide the key between the loops, then keep sliding until it stays put and the loops are completely compressed again? Nail breaking, frustrating activity and good luck getting anything off again with those. The s-biner was a great solution, and the shape was better than a ring for most purposes. If you’ve never used something like this before, however, or bought one and can’t unlock it properly, keep reading! The only problem I had is that the “mini” size has a mini lock to twist open, and even with my fairly small hands (size 6.5 to 7 in gloves), I couldn’t grip it properly. I thought it was because I’d grown out my fingernails slightly for Halloween, but nope! My husband couldn’t get a grip either. A neighbor had borrowed my favorite pliers and hadn’t returned them, so I used a blunt-tipped pair of scissors. Use a reverse grip, slightly spread the small scissors or needle-nose pliers, and twist. A little patience is important, so if you end up twisting the wrong way, try the other. Eventually, you’ll get the hang of it.

Nite Ize S-Biner MicroLock: I use these microlocks on my camera straps to quick release my camera from my strap. It is tiny but it is very tough. I yanked on the microlocks and it held its locking feature. I’m confident that Nite Ize S-Biner MicroLock will not unlock itself from my camera, which would be a disaster. It is a trusty microLock.

So far, so good for this tag holder! I adopted a kitten several months ago and tried to get the carabineer I use for my 10 year old dog’s tags, but the company must have gone out of business. So I tried these and they do lock and his tags haven’t come off yet!! Very reasonably priced, comes in a two pack, great size for a cat and arrived quickly!! I like them!

I got the very, very small size. Too small. It’s too small for a key ring Lock is plastic, locks securely, and hard to open-which is good, however, I don’t have finger nails or small fingers to twist it closed very easily. So the aluminum frame might be better, for me, if it was a little bigger, or the twist lock more pronounced. This would be good as a small luggage zipper confusion lock, but not as an everyday quick release hasp. This brand has a fantastic latch mechanism, I just wish there had been a to-scale example in the advertisement so I could have bought the bigger one. For that reason alone, the dinky size, and how it was not advertzed as such, I have to give this item a 4 out of 5. I would not recommend this size.

I have a sociable zip closure on my Marc jacobs bag that doesn’t stay closed and this works well to keep my stuff from falling out.I don’t keep it locked and It’s easy to unclip it when I need to grab my wallet. If you have an issue turning the black center lock, turn the “s” clip upside down and try again. That’s what I did and it opened without issue. 🙂

But I still locked it. Works as supposed to. Yes, lightweight. I use it to hang my noise-cancelling headphones from my computer bag, when flying. Otherwise, there is no room in the bag for anything else.

The little lock is not needed. Can be tough to open for larger fingers. But real like these
