I got this for my old pup whose actually about 11 years old with bad arthritis to lie down on in the back of the cab in my truck which doesn’t get the most heat from the vehicle heater. It seems to warm quickly within a couple of minutes when I check it with the back of my hand. There isn’t a temp selection but it feels like the equivalent to normal body heat, which seems to be fine with my dog. I use it when I take her for her early morning trips to the park. Which this winter the temps have been in the 8-25 degree range and she seems to be quite comfortable.I leave it plugged in to the 12V power supply and when I want to turn on the heater, just push the reset button on the controller and the heating pad starts to warm up. You do have the option of either a 30 minute or 45 minute timer selection. When this time period is up, you will need to push the reset button again. A very minor inconvenience but it will save the car battery if you forget to turn it off. Besides, by the time the timer times out, it should be warm enough inside your vehicle it isn’t necessary to use anymore.My only complaint is the fabric- it is a lint and fur magnet. I put it inside a small pillow case to keep it clean. Otherwise I’m very satisfied with this heater pad.

Our little dog has a car seat [no judgments, please ;-)]. We were looking for something to warm it on cold winter days, and were attracted to this pad by its size (slightly smaller than the cushion on the seat), by the picture of a little dog on the pad (exactly what we wanted), and by the message that this is “perfect for kids, adults, and even your pets”.Well, maybe perfect for kids and adults, less so for pets. Because dogs like to paw at a resting place before settling, any cushion needs to hold its shape during that process. This does not. Though it appears to be a 16″(40cm) square with rounded corners, it has no structure to hold that shape; it is very soft and will easily crumple into a ball. That may be fine for some applications, like rolling it around a neck or sore joint, but not when you want it to lay flat, such as in a dog’s car seat or when you want to use it as a substitute for a heated seat or seatback.Also, that lack of definite shape prompts concern about the integrity of the interior wire. If the conductors and insulation provide no resistance to crumpling the pad, what does that do to the wire? – some eventual fatigue-induced breakage of conductors and insulation seems likely, leading to loss of heat or short circuits.

I live in Michigan and spend a lot of time in the car. These are perfect for me and my daughter—they heat up quickly and keep you toasty while waiting for the car to warm up. I had a heated blanket before, but these are much less obnoxious to deal with because they’re small. Perfect to put in your lap and warm up on cold days.

I bought this for my mini dachshund. She travels everywhere with me. I use this in the carrier on my Harley-Davidson motorcycle. It draws power from the 12v socket in my tour pack. It only stays on for 45 minutes according to the instructions.

My husband hurt his back and we needed to make a long trip in the car. The heating pad at home had been giving him relief. So I ordered this one. Heats up quickly and worked well for the trip. Only drawback was it doesn’t have an on/off switch. Just have to unplugged it each time.
