Good value for the money worked great for chainsaw, I will try it on my car just to check it on a v8 engine. Would like to have a little better instructions on what mode to choose for a two stroke engine verse a four stroke.

I have a self propelled late model Honda Lawn Mower and I do my own servicing. Some services are scheduled based on operating hours. I really never had a good idea how many hours I use it each mowing season. I also needed to check the rpm and needed a tachometer. This unit does both! And, it has good reviews. I found an install video on the web and learned what needed to be done. The hardest part was figuring how to get the Honda engine cover off. I wrapped 6 turns on the spark plug wire and used black nylon wire ties to hold the sensor wire in place. Some wire clips with 3M adhesive helped to route the wire. And I used Velcro to hold the display to the Air cleaner cover. I started the mower and out of the box it worked perfectly and showed the engine was running at 3,040rpm. Job done!!! I would recommend this brand to anyone.One thing I found is the LCD display is not easy to read off angle. I would have mounted it angled up at 45 degrees to make it easier to read the display. For now, I just pop off the air cleaner to read!

It seems very accurate however is a little slow to read. Works well for my application. Wish it had a backlight for reading it in the dark. but is a great deal for the price.

Slightly delayed readout that bounced a lot makes it annoying to try and use as a tach. Cheap but should have bought something better

I got this for tuning a chainsaw. It seems to work, however, instructions say the default setting is 2 ( one spark per revolution) but its actually setting 1. I dont leave the battery in it since its not being used as a hours meter. So each time I have to manually change the setting to 2. It works, I wish it was wireless and more user friendly.

Good to make sure your gasoline powered generator is operating at the correct rpm, which is what I bought it for.

Use this when setting carburetors on chainsaws and gives quick reading of engine RPM. Easy to use just wrap wire around spark plug lead. I keep plastic disc to disconnect battery to turn off when not using.
