It does what it is supposed to do. My only complaint is that for my applications the readout is upsidedown. A button to flip the screen 180 deg would make it awesome.

Took it on faith alone that it is correctly calibrated

Like the device. Simple and accurate. But the reflector strips don’t stick. Have to use superglue to make them stick. Otherwise would have given 5 stars.

I hope ity is working. Bopught it to check the speed on my Shopsmith saw. One or the other is off! I think it is the saw

Worked great, can’t attest to the accuracy of it though.

Worked as it should ,Able to calibrate my wood lathe pulley speeds

Nice little gadget. It seems to be accurate, but without a reference to compare against I wouldn’t know. My one minor complaint is the ergos – holding the on button down kind of obscures the readout.A couple of tips!. The reflective tape does stick! You have to get both, yes both, of the backers off. I’ve no idea why there are two layers but it’s the case. I use a razor blade to lift the inner backer.2. To reduce hopping around or erroneous values on the RPM readings hold the unit away (15-20 inches) from the rotating part. And hit it at angle like 20-30 degrees from square-on to eliminate specular reflections from the rotating body surface.

Some folks have had bad luck with these. I have had good luck, but you do need to treat it with care… And make sure it keeps a good ‘lock’ on what you are measuring. I am guessing some types of light will make it mistrigger too. The case is not substantial enough for full time tool bag use. But it does great in my toolbox drawer and occasional gentile trips. I would make sure to remove the battery in storage for any length of time. I used it initially to calibrate overall speed of my cassette deck capstan. Works great!
